Folks, it’s Kacee. One story on the site today, and it’s right here at home in Kentucky. Let’s walk through it.
Kentucky’s early vote opened about two-thirds above the 2022 pace. Secretary of State Michael Adams reported that 135,901 Kentuckians cast ballots on Thursday, Oct. 29, the first day of no-excuse early voting, compared with 81,961 on the opening day in 2022. Registered Democrats made up the biggest group that first day, 66,166 to 60,793 Republicans and 8,942 independents, though Adams’ own percentages imply Republicans hold the larger share of the state’s voter rolls, so a day-one edge is not a forecast. Jefferson and Fayette counties ran well ahead of their 2022 pace, and if you haven’t voted, the polls open again on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
