The Daily Recap: Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026

By Kacee Allen ·

Folks, it’s Kacee. The votes are in back home, and we’ve got one big Kentucky story for you tonight.

Barr wins the Kentucky Senate seat by 12 points as his old House district flips blue. Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr beat Democrat Charles Booker for the seat Mitch McConnell has held for more than four decades, and the race was called at about 9:16 p.m. Eastern Tuesday. With roughly 99% of the expected vote counted early Wednesday, unofficial returns showed Barr with 784,000 votes, or 55%, to 611,987 for Booker, or 42.9%, and Barr said he’ll look for Democrats willing to work across the aisle in a Senate the Associated Press says Democrats now control. Here’s the part worth chewing on: Trump carried Kentucky by about 30 points in 2024, Barr’s lead settled near 12, and Democrat Zach Dembo beat Republican Ralph Alvarado for Barr’s own open 6th District seat.
